Watch the CBS special report on Audio Enhancement in classrooms
Audio Enhancement History
Audio Enhancement was founded by Claudia Anderson with the simple idea that “learning begins with hearing”. The mother of two hearing impaired children; Anderson wanted to provide them with the best education possible. With her first systems designed specifically for the benefit of her children, she realized that the enhanced audio helped all the students in the classroom. This realization led her to develop a whole classroom audio solution that could benefit all students.
IR Technology Patent
In the early days of the classroom audio enhancement concept, FM Radio microphones were the only technology available. Audio Enhancement pioneered the development of IR (infra-red) microphone technology which provides the classroom with the audio enhancement concept without the concerns of interference and number of available channels that were ever present with the radio based systems. Today that technology continues to be advanced with new and exciting partnerships.
Audio Enhancement Success
Audio Enhancement has been involved in many educational successes throughout the country. Ocoee Middle School, the Florida state technology demonstration school is a landmark school that exposes inner-city students to the best technology available. The Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta is a school with unparalleled instruction, state-of-the-art facilities and innovative leaders led by Ron Clark. Audio Enhancement was chosen by both schools to provide top-of-the-line classroom audio systems for each classroom and media center throughout the schools. Leaders for both schools clearly understand the concept of “learning begins with hearing” and have called upon Audio Enhancement to provide this benefit.
The Classroom
An Audio Enhancement classroom is made up with a teacher and student microphone, four speakers, an amplifier and an infrared sensor. These components make our system a powerful classroom learning tool.
The teardrop teacher microphone features IR remote volume control for the teacher’s and student’s microphones and the auxiliary inputs. The Handheld Student microphone facilitates student to teacher and student to student communication and encourages classroom participation. The speakers are evenly distributed throughout the ceiling creating an optimal listening environment for every student. Audio Enhancement provides a wide range of amplifiers with different features to fit every classroom need. The dome sensor provides 360 degree coverage so the teacher can facilitate instruction from anywhere in the classroom.
Why Amplify with Audio Enhancement?
The basics of learning begin with hearing. This concept is so fundamental that we often take it for granted and overlook its importance. Studies show that on average teachers spend over 6 hours talking during the school day. Additionally, students spend much of their time listening to other students in group discussions and watching (and listening to) multimedia presentations. Imagine if, during all the auditory stimuli, students do not learn because they cannot fully hear what is being taught, explained, or shared.
Audio Enhancement has developed a solution that dramatically improves the ability for students to hear the teacher in today’s noisy classrooms and will directly impact your students' academic achievement. The classroom should be a place where students can devote their full attention to learning without wasting energy trying to hear the teacher and filling in the gaps of missing information. By investing in a classroom audio system, you are investing in a technology solution that will benefit every classroom.
